Creating a construction

When I try to drag EPD for steel coil to my construction, I am told that the material is not compatible with the construction unit. Why, and how can I add steel to my construction?

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your question.

When you are trying to map a material to a construction that we can not transfer into the DU of the construction, you will get this error.

We are looking into adding more data from the sources.

Mads

Hi Mads,

Thx.

I need to add C-profiles, 80x250x2mm, to my construction. So please advice me on how to do this.

Kind regards Martin

Hi Martin

I would suggest that you use the generic dataset for steel; “Stålprofil”.
And then enter the amount og kg’s used in the construction.

Hi Mads,
Can not just take another random material. The profiles we are using are not galvanised or coated.
Why not correct the units?
I do not understand the units for “stålprofil” ??

The other EPD uses this:

which is correct, but apparently does not work in a construction with m² as declared unit.

That is a good point.

In the case that you are certain that you will use “Koldvalsede plader og coils” from Norsk Stål AS that is also what you should be able to use. My point was that the generic data will accomodate the needs if you do not excatly know the material and that we can convert that materials attributes into the units we need to create the construction.

The kg/kg is very hard for us to handle in transfering into “real” units where we need a density or relation between dimensions and weight in order to calculate the right quantities.

It might not be the answer you are looking for and I can tell that we are preparing to extract more data from the sources regarding the dimensions needed.

Best regards
Mads

Generic data is OK. But it has to be a compareable material. Do you have an EPD steel coils that are not galvanized or coated?
