Changelog: Waste Sorting V2, More Project Overview Gains & Project Comparison 🚀

Hey @Community :waving_hand:

These last two cycles have been packed — from a completely rebuilt Waste Sorting experience to massive project overview performance gains and a brand new way to compare projects side by side. There’s a lot to unpack here. Let’s dig in:

:recycling_symbol: Waste Sorting — Completely Rebuilt

This is the big one. Waste Sorting has been rebuilt from the ground up to give you much more control and visibility over construction waste in your projects.

You can now create custom waste groups, drag and drop EPDs from the library into your sorting, and see exactly how emissions break down per waste fraction — complete with a new sidebar showing emissions for each fraction. The system now correctly handles reused materials by still accounting for A4 and A5 emissions, and waste sorting emissions are fully integrated into dashboard totals and all reports (Standard format, DGNB, and more).

Other highlights in waste sorting:

  • Excel import templates are now available per country and in your selected language — download, fill in, and upload to bulk-populate waste data
  • Filter by EPD type, by custom or standard sorting, and sort materials by emission
  • Toggle between kg and ton — the unit change applies across all panes and modals consistently
  • Each waste material card now clearly shows whether its emissions come from default wastage percentages or from actual sortings
  • Edit names and delete custom waste groups directly from the UI
  • Materials already used in a waste grouping are automatically filtered out so you don’t double-map
  • Multiple selection of materials in the Mapped Inventory for faster bulk mapping

:rocket: Project Overview is Now Even Faster

The third round of project overview performance work is complete, and the improvements are significant. Reference areas, calculation types, roles, and favourites are now all served from Hasura — meaning the project list loads dramatically faster, even for users with access to many projects. Sorting and filtering by area and role also happens server-side now, so the UI stays snappy.

There’s also a new Filter by Role option — you can now filter your project list by your role (Admin, Editor, Viewer, etc.), making it much faster to find the projects you’re responsible for or have specific access to.

The project overview also now automatically refreshes when you navigate back after editing a project — no more manual page reloads needed.

:bar_chart: Compare Projects Side by Side

A brand new project comparison feature lets you select multiple projects from the project overview and compare them in a matrix-style modal. See key data points, preview images, and analytical insights across projects — all in one view. Great for benchmarking across buildings or checking how different design iterations stack up.

:building_construction: Drag-and-Drop Group Creation in Mapping

Part of the ongoing Material Mapping v2 project: you can now drag a material from the library directly onto the “Create Group” button. The modal opens with the EPD name and declared unit pre-filled — just add a type name, unit value, and classification code, and the EPD is automatically mapped. Saves several clicks on every new group.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Filter by Model in Building Component Inventory

Important change: The model selector in the Building Component Inventory has been replaced with a new model filter inside the filter options. Previously, you could only view one model at a time using a separate dropdown. Now, all building elements from all models are shown in one unified list by default — and you can use the filter to narrow down to a specific model when needed.

This is a workflow change worth noting: the old single-model dropdown is gone, and the functionality now lives inside the filter panel alongside the other filters. If you’re used to switching between models via the old selector, look for it in the filter options instead.

:clipboard: Expand & Collapse Groups in Building Component Inventory

A new toggle button in the Building Component Inventory lets you expand or collapse all groups at once. Handy when you need a quick overview or want to dive deep into specific groups without clicking each one individually.

:label: Improved Projects Table View

The table view on the projects page has been redesigned for better readability and usability, making it easier to scan and manage your project list at a glance.

:triangular_ruler: Lifetime Table — Polished and Improved

The lifetime table received several usability upgrades: the first column and row are now locked so headers stay visible while scrolling, and a cursor highlight follows your position across rows and columns so you always know exactly where you are in the table. These improvements make working with large lifetime datasets much more comfortable.

:norway: Norway: Transport Emission Factors — Table 15

As part of the Localization Norway project, transport emission factors from NS 3720:2018/G2:2024 Table 15 (lifecycle-based climate emissions for different vehicle and fuel combinations) have been added. Norwegian projects now have access to a more complete set of transport data for TEK17 calculations.

:office_building: Elevator Classification Mapping

Elevators are now correctly mapped to their classification code in reports, closing a gap in the report structure for projects that include elevator systems.

:page_facing_up: Datasource Column in DGNB Excel Report

The DGNB Excel output now includes a datasource column, making it easier to trace where each material’s environmental data originates — especially useful during audits and reviews.

:1234: Version Number in DGNB Report

The platform version number is now shown in the DGNB report, so you always know which version of Real-Time LCA was used when a report was generated.

:plus: Total Bar in Material Comparison

When comparing materials, a total bar now appears in the comparison view — giving you a quick visual summary across all indicators at once.

:sparkles: Additional Improvements

  • Draggable library cards in Mapping View — the entire card is now draggable (not just a small handle), matching the interaction pattern from waste sorting

  • Model dropdown in Create Material/Type Grouping — when creating a new material or type grouping, a dropdown now shows active models so you can assign directly

  • Search debouncing in Material Mapping — search input is now debounced for a smoother experience when typing quickly

  • Library panel collapse state is now saved, so the panel stays the way you left it

  • Saint-Gobain has been added to the EPD filter list, and constructions created within the Saint-Gobain organisation now display the correct declaration owner name

  • BR18 (2025) data corrections — mass factors for Tabel 7 materials have been corrected

  • Standard values now include declaration numbers

  • The welcome screen now reads “Welcome to Real-Time LCA” instead of the old company name

  • “Owner” renamed to “Admin” on the projects page for consistency

  • Retry button added to “Something went wrong” screens — you can now retry without a full page reload

  • Construction limit text that was previously missing has been restored

  • Biogass transport unit corrected from kWh to kg for Norwegian transport emission factors

:bug: Bug Fixes

  • :sweden: Fixed Swedish Klimadeklaration calculations not working correctly with automapping

  • :norway: Fixed A5 stage in both the Norwegian and Swedish reports

  • :counterclockwise_arrows_button: Fixed auto mapping “By Project” being blocked — users were seeing a “not allowed” error when trying to automap

  • :counterclockwise_arrows_button: Fixed projects not showing up when selecting auto mapping by project

  • :card_index_dividers: Fixed project overview filters — clicking “Clear” now properly removes all checkmarks

  • :office_building: Fixed Revit category search — you can now search building components by Revit category as expected

  • :electric_plug: Resolved the “Could not resolve app” error in Speckle Connector that multiple users were reporting

  • :electric_plug: Fixed Speckle 3D view duplication — sending from a duplicated view no longer throws a viewId error

  • :electric_plug: Fixed project branch updates failing when Speckle model data was missing

  • :package: Fixed incorrect unit display for materials inside constructions

  • :delivery_truck: Fixed a race condition in transport-by-type calculations

  • :delivery_truck: Corrected the unit for transport input fields

  • :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Fixed the construction indicator only responding to clicks in certain areas

  • :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Fixed the material compare indicator not displaying after selection in the dropdown

These two cycles represent a major step forward - especially for waste management workflows and overall platform speed. As always, your feedback fuels these improvements. Got questions or spotted something off? Drop it in the community or reach out directly.
