Changelog: Collections, Material Compare & a Wave of Library Fixes ๐Ÿš€

Hey @Community :waving_hand:

Cycle 60 brings a big one thatโ€™s been on the roadmap for a while โ€” Collections โ€” alongside a shiny new material comparison tool, drag-and-drop group creation, and a solid sweep of library and mapping fixes. Letโ€™s dig in:

:package: Collections Are Here

You can now organise your materials and constructions into Collections โ€” named groups that let you curate and filter your library the way you actually work. Whether itโ€™s by project type, supplier, or material category, Collections put you in control of your own material database.

  • Create and manage collections directly from the library
  • Filter your material list by collection โ€” and yes, the filter is searchable
  • The collections are available for all users in your organisation.

:magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Compare Materials and Constructions

Side-by-side comparison is now available for materials and constructions in the library. Select multiple items and inspect their properties, EPD data, and values at a glance โ€” making it easier to choose the right option for your project without jumping back and forth.

:label: Create Groups by Drag & Drop

Dragging a material onto another in the mapping view will now create a new group on the fly, rather than requiring you to set one up first. A small but satisfying workflow improvement for anyone working with complex mappings.

:high_voltage: Improvements

Better navigation after editing constructions โ€” Closing or finishing a clone/edit action now brings you back to the construction you came from, instead of dropping you at the top of the list.

Cleaner library card layout โ€” Action items on material and construction cards have been re-arranged for a more intuitive flow, and descriptions now span the full width of the card.

Easier Speckle connection copying โ€” The Speckle invitation email now makes it much easier to copy the server URL and password without accidentally grabbing trailing spaces. (A small thing that caused surprising confusion.)

DGNB report: Heated area updated โ€” The heated area in DGNB reports now correctly uses total heated area above and below ground, rather than only above ground.

Search by waste group name โ€” You can now search for materials by waste group name in the waste mapping view.

Organisation filter reset on switch โ€” Switching between organisations no longer carries over filters that donโ€™t exist in the new org, avoiding confusing empty states.

:bug: Bug Fixes

  • :window: Fixed a bug where total area for Windows and Doors was not computed correctly, including an issue specific to projects using +3.15.
  • :page_facing_up: Fixed an issue where architectural columns were not exporting in meters โ€” units are now correct in exports.
  • :recycling_symbol: Fixed a critical bug where activating reuse for a material also set A4โ€“A5 values to 0, silently affecting transport and waste calculations.
  • :counterclockwise_arrows_button: Fixed automapping not working correctly when multiple different models were involved in the same project.
  • :card_index_dividers: Fixed the Project Overview sort headers โ€” clicking column headers in list view now correctly sorts the project list.
  • :bust_in_silhouette: Fixed an issue where the Edit button was visible to users without edit rights in the library.
  • :repeat_button: Fixed the automapping button staying active after activating automapping without applying it, then navigating away.
  • :books: Fixed several library editing and cloning issues: clone action was missing for constructions in mapping view, clone/edit didnโ€™t navigate back to origin, construction forms were pre-populating with data from previously opened items, deleted materials stayed visible until refresh, and delete notifications incorrectly said โ€œdeprecatedโ€ instead of โ€œdeletedโ€.

This release has a lot of depth โ€” Collections alone open up new ways to structure your workflow, and the library stability fixes should remove some real friction for power users. As always, questions and feedback are welcome in the community. :raising_hands:
