Hello Realtime LCA

I have a question regarding construction comparisons.
Are there any methods to be able to compare the constructions with each other without having to create a completely new project and find the individual constructions under project breakdown, where the total co2 is listed. I would like to create a construction library where I can compare them with each other in terms of for the different phases, just as you can in LCAbyg and other platforms.

You can either use the Compare button under Constructions during the mapping process, or - if you’re comparing the entire building - you can create additional models in Real-Time LCA. You load your 3D model via Speckle into each of the different RT models, map with different materials or construction to each, and then compare the results for the whole building.

There is another way, that doesn’t require creating custom projects for each variant analysis.

Go to Library > Constructions. Tick the Compare box for each construction you want to compare and press the Compare Constructions button in the top right corner

This will give you a graph that shows a comparison by phase.

There has been talk about adding a extra column for the total result, which would be nice for doing this as well :+1:

Hi team

I have a follow up question concerning variant studies. It is great that we can compare contructions from the material library :+1: But sometime we would like a make a variant study for a construction that would make sense to add to a library. An example would be 5 m2 of facade including wall and window. This makes more sense to model in a project. I can easily add materials and find appropriate environmental data for each material in RTLCA, but at the moment, it is not possible compare two different types in the same project.

So a feature request is to be able to click on a type and see the environmental impact from the entire type - both in total and per phase - like it is already possible to do for each material in the type.
If you add this feature, RTLCA could be used for variant studies :+1: At the moment, we go back to LCAbyg every time we need to make such studies, but it is quite annoying having to switch between platforms during a project. And going forward, LCAbyg will be a payed option, so that method won’t be viable any longer. Then we are left with making variant studies in excel again :sweat_smile:

Yes, being able to inspect the type is part 1 :ok_hand:
Part 2 would be the possibility to compare 2 (or multiple) types :slight_smile:

You could of cause make some screen shots and compare manually without the feature from part 2. Part 2 would just make variant studies for building sections easier :wink:
