Hello

Wev’e just started using RealTime LCA in our studio and we are discussing the Reuse button feature. We work a lot with existing buildings and we are trying to figure out how to include them in our LCAs.

We are wondering what happens when we tick the Reuse button on a material? Does it mean the material is not included in the calculations at all or only excluded from some fases? There is a difference if you use structures existing on site or just reused materials that have to be transported and treated.

A way to approach it could be ticking the Reuse button on reused (but transported) materials and just excluding the structures existing on site from calculation (when they become gray) - just a thought.

Thank you for your question.

The reuse button sets the materail to 0 according to the danish regulations, but the materials will still show in your inventory. Link to the regulation: Nu regnes genbrugte byggematerialer for 0 kg CO2 i bygningers klimaregnskab | Social- og Boligstyrelsen

We are also working on a new feature for what you are describing in regards to existing materials, but there is still no official method for calculating it.
