# Introducing the Real-Time LCA MCP Server

We’re thrilled to announce the public launch of the **Real-Time LCA MCP Server**. With this hosted [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/) server you connect your AI directly to Real-Time LCA. No local installation, no manual API calls, no scripting. Just natural language and your existing Real-Time LCA account.

## What you can do

Connect once, and your AI gains access to your Real-Time LCA workspace:

- **Projects** : List and manage building projects; view GWP metrics, status, and metadata at a glance

- **Material Mapping** : Map BIM materials to EPDs from the global library, preview AI-suggested matches, or trigger full automapping in one step

- **BIM Inspection** : Traverse construction hierarchies, identify unmapped types, and drill into material properties

- **LCA Reports** : Generate BR18-compliant XML and Excel reports and download them directly

- **EPD & Materials Library** : Search by name, category, datasource, or manufacturer; create, patch, and map EPDs and constructions to your inventory.

- **Dashboards & Timelines** : Pull GWP summaries, emissions-over-time charts, stage breakdowns, and project event histories

**53 tools** are available across 7 functional areas.

## How to connect

The server is hosted at `https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp` and ready to use. Authentication is handled via OAuth using your existing Real-Time LCA login — no API keys required.

### Claude AI

Configure MCP servers in Claude.ai

1. Add servers at [claude.ai/customize/connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors). On Team and Enterprise plans, only admins can add servers.

2. Plus sign → Add custom connector → Add this URL [https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp](https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp)

3. Authenticate the MCP server

4. Complete any required authentication steps in Claude.ai.

The next time you mention RTLCA in a chat, Claude will detect the access and ask you for permission to execute tools.

### Claude Code

Run this single command in your terminal:

```bash
claude mcp add realtimelca --transport http https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp
```

Claude Code will prompt you to authenticate on first use.

### Local AI

We are also preparing a guide on how to connect to this MCP via a local LLM. Then you don’t need Claude or other subscriptions. No token limit, no sharing of data. Stay tuned…

### Codex

1. Open Codex
2. Go to Settings → Configurations → Open config.toml
3. Go to Configurations
4. Open config.toml
5. Paste the following at the very top of the file
mcp\_oauth\_callback\_port = 5555
[mcp\_servers.rtlca]
url = “[https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp](https://mcp.realtimelca.com/mcp)”
6. Close Codex (Make sure the process is not running anymore)
7. Restart Codex
8. Go to Settings → MCP Servers
9. You should now be able to see the rtlca connection → Click Authenticate
10. A browser will pop up and you need to enter your RTLCA credentials
11. Return to Codex and test the RTLCA connection in a Chat, e.g. “What projects do I have in RTLCA?”

## Example prompts to try

- _“List all my projects and show me the GWP for each”_

- _“Which materials in project X are still unmapped?”_

- _“Map missing materials with most adequate EPDs and show me the suggested matches”_

- _“Generate a BR18 XML report for project X”_

- _“Search the EPD library for mineral wool insulation from Danish manufacturers”_

- _“What’s the GWP breakdown by life cycle stage for project X?”_

- _“Show me emissions over time for project X”_

- _"What are five promising mitigation actions to reduce environmental impacts in the structure of this project?_
